For Antonio, flexibility isn’t just a convenience – it’s a lifeline. As a father of three daughters, Antonio juggles family, work and financial responsibilities with the support of DTE Energy’s Customer Service and energy assistance programs. The flexibility provided to Antonio allows him to manage his energy bills without jeopardizing other household priorities.

“I’ve been with DTE on and off for about 10 years,” Antonio shares. “There were times when my bill was past due and I could call in, arrange a flexible payment plan with DTE and pay it off within that time frame.”

One particular situation highlights the value of DTE’s commitment to its customers. Antonio recalls coming home to find his power had been shut off after missing a payment date. “I called DTE, explained my situation and was able to talk to someone right away,” said Antonio.

Thanks to a combination of advocacy from his landlord and support from a DTE representative, his power was quickly restored on a Friday after hours. “The young lady I worked with was kind and helpful,” said Antonio. “She listened, figured out a solution and got our power back on the same day. I was very grateful.”

Antonio emphasizes how DTE’s approach eases his mind, “It’s a huge relief knowing there are resources to help when you’re struggling. I’m confident I can keep my services on.” Antonio continues to see DTE as a vital partner in managing his household needs. “They’ve been flexible in a way I haven’t experienced with other companies,” said Antonio.

For families like Antonio’s, DTE isn’t just a utility – it’s a helping hand in times of need. Every day, DTE connects customers to energy assistance to avoid an interruption of service. The team works closely with state and agency partners to provide financial assistance and last year alone, connected customers to nearly $144 million in energy assistance.

DTE remains laser-focused on finding ways to save its customers money while working toward a more affordable, reliable and sustainable energy future. One recent announcement includes DTE passing on approximately $300 million in savings from fuel and transportation costs, which will lower residential electric bills by about $5 per month, on average, per customer.  These savings will help offset the cost of future investments to improve reliability — reducing outages by 30% and cutting restoration times in half by the end of 2029. For more information on energy assistance and how DTE helps keep bills affordable, visit dteenergy.com/help.
