As DTE Energy continues to build a stronger grid, our crews are constantly out in the field, identifying equipment that needs an upgrade. A big part of this commitment is happening in Westland as over 100 poles are scheduled to be given upgrades in the coming months.
At the corner of South Venoy Road and Palmer Road, our crews have been dispatched to execute this plan to reduce outages for our Westland customers. This specific location is receiving a brand-new pole along with the accompanying pole top equipment, such as cross arms and connectors. These upgrades, happening across the area, will improve the performance of our equipment, especially during extreme weather situations.
Infrastructure upgrades are crucial for reducing outages and improving the grid’s resilience and reliability. By updating our equipment, DTE is reinforcing the current system and preparing to meet future energy demands. Our commitment to these enhancements ensures that customers will continue to receive the dependable service they trust.
DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by 2029.
This upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
