DTE Energy is building a stronger grid for our customers. We’re making this a reality in part by upgrading portions of our infrastructure with new equipment. That new equipment can range from one single pole top upgrade to a full change out with a brand-new pole.
Recently, at the intersection of Kirtland Drive and Stadium Boulevard in Ann Arbor, our crews were busy working on implementing these upgrades. Specifically, the crew was upgrading the pole top equipment to this pole as a part of a larger project happening in the area. Over 140 locations are scheduled to be serviced in the area, with some of them being full pole upgrades and other being isolated pole top replacements. Customers in the area should expect an increase in performance, especially during extreme weather situations.
DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.
Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
