DTE is energizing the future of downtown Detroit with investments in infrastructure that support electric vehicles. Underground crews installed transformers that will power EV charging stations outside of a new apartment building on Rivard Street. As a part of DTE’s four-point plan, we are updating our existing infrastructure to support initiatives such as this. We are continuing to rebuild older portions of our grid to improve resiliency and reliability. During this rebuild, there may be strategic opportunities to move wires underground. While our investment in renewable energy already exceeds $3 billion, we have ambitious plans to do even more. With new projects currently underway, we will more than double our renewable energy generation capacity by 2023, which is enough clean energy each year to power more than 900,000 homes.

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming, maintenance, and infrastructure updates. All of these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability in both the short and long term.
