In Romulus, residents are experiencing noticeable improvements in electric reliability. By actively listening to community feedback and using data to guide targeted improvements, DTE Energy has reduced outages and strengthened service throughout the city.

“Upgrades to outdated infrastructure and regular tree trimming are making a real difference for our residents,” said Kevin Krause, Director of Community Safety and Development. “DTE listened to our challenges and followed through with actions that improved reliability and quality of life in our community, helping Romulus continue to grow and attract new investment.”

Krause’s relationship with DTE began nearly 25 years ago when he worked for the city’s fire department and today, he mentioned it’s stronger than ever.

“Adding technology and smart devices to the grid have increasingly helped DTE respond to service interruptions in real time,” said Krause. “But when seconds matter, our first responders still need direct access to a DTE team member, which is why they set up a specific program to ensure we’re able to reach them when it matters most. We really value that connection in emergency situations.”

Beyond reliability improvements, DTE conducted a citywide review of infrastructure, assessing thousands of poles and developing a plan to clean up blighted or unused equipment – helping improve the overall appearance of the community.
