Overhead and underground crews were out in Troy near Oakland Mall this week upgrading the electrical grid to improve reliability in the area. The team made updates to a utility pole that combines the overhead and underground system. The team changed the cross arms, cutouts and a lightning arrester, which is a device that helps protect the electric system from the damaging effects of lightning. This work was done at the corner of Chicago and Technology and is intended to improve the reliability in this area for the foreseeable future.
