During last week’s heavy rainfall and strong winds, trees fell on a utility pole causing it to snap in two places. This resulted in residents of an apartment and townhome complex in Bloomfield Hills losing power.

DTE overhead crews quickly responded to the issue that caused a power outage for a couple of hundred people in the nearby area. The crews, made up of seven team members, worked for several hours to safely and efficiently as possible to remove the damaged pole and replace it with a new one. Once finished, the impacted customers had their power restored and will benefit moving forward from the new sturdy pole holding up the distribution power lines that feed their community.

You may be seeing more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are being done to improve your service and reliability for the short- and long-term.
