For hundreds of Detroit-area students each year, the path to college and career success begins not just in the classroom, but on the golf course — and in the life-changing mentorship of College Career & Beyond | Midnight Golf Program.
Since 2017, with additional support dating back to 2012, the DTE Foundation has proudly partnered with CCB | MGP to support its mission of preparing underserved youth for success in college, career and beyond. The program serves 250 students annually, offering year-round life skills training, mentoring and exposure to new experiences that build character, confidence and opportunity.
The results speak volumes: 100 percent of Midnight Golf participants graduate from high school and are accepted into college. Even more impressively, 75 percent earn a college degree within six years — a rate four times higher than their peers in Detroit.
“At the DTE Foundation, we believe education is the key to unlocking potential,” said Rodney Cole, president, DTE Foundation. “CCB | MGP is a shining example of what’s possible when young people are given the tools, support and belief they need to succeed. We’re honored to walk alongside them in this work.”
The program’s holistic approach blends professional development with personal growth. Students learn financial literacy, professional etiquette and employability skills — all while building lasting relationships with mentors who guide them through the transition from high school to college and adulthood.
“Our students are capable of extraordinary things when given the chance,” said Reneé Fluker, founder and CEO of CCB | MGP. “The DTE Foundation’s support has helped us expand our reach and deepen our impact. Together, we’re not just changing lives, we’re changing futures.”
This partnership reflects a shared commitment for post-secondary education, ensuring that Detroit’s next generation is equipped to thrive — in college, in careers and in life.
