DTE Energy is hard at work to build a stronger grid. We accomplish this, in part, by identifying equipment in the field that’s due for replacement and scheduling those needed upgrades.

This brings us to Ann Arbor on the corner of Broadway Street and Plymouth Road where our crews have been implementing many upgrades to the infrastructure in the area. 27 new poles have already been installed in the area along with the accompanying pole top upgrades such as cross arms, connectors, and transformers. These upgrades will bring this area a much-increased boost to reliability. They will help increase the performance of the overall grid, especially during extreme weather situations.

Improving our infrastructure is essential for minimizing outages and boosting grid resilience. By investing in advanced technologies, we can effectively meet future energy demands and ensure reliable, uninterrupted service for our customers.

DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.

Upgrading work like this is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
