Cross arms are essential components of power line infrastructure. They are horizontal beams that are attached to utility poles and support electrical conductors. Over time, cross arms can become infected with fungi or infested by insects, leading to splintering, weakening and potential outages. DTE Energy crews were recently in Harrison Township replacing old cross arms on a pole with new fiberglass arms.

Fiberglass cross arms are a more durable alternative to traditional wood cross arms. They are less susceptible to wear and tear, last longer and improve reliable operations of the power line.

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability in the short and long term.
