Our tree trimming crews recently worked in the backyard of an Oak Park home near Church Street and Northfield Boulevard. The team cleared off excess tree limbs that could interfere with overhead lines during heavy winds. This reduces the risk of storm related power outages, helping keep Oak Park residents with the juice flowing when and where they need it most.

In late 2021, DTE made a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming efforts across the communities it serves, helping prevent outages during heavy storms. You can read more about that initiative here. Highlights include:

  • Accelerating tree trimming work for communities hardest hit by recent storms last fall
  • Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
  • Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone

If trees are creating a safety hazard near your home, please report it to DTE here. We prioritize safety concerns based on the severity of the hazard.
