Tree trimmers were out recently in Detroit’s Grandmont neighborhood, near Tournier Street and Southfield Freeway Frontage Road, working on improving reliability. During heavy storms, branches can get tangled up with overhead lines, causing power disruptions for nearby homes and businesses. Our team cleared off branches that were growing too close to DTE electrical infrastructure, helping keep power flowing for Detroiters, when and where they need it most.
All throughout this year, we have increased our tree trimming efforts dramatically across our service territory as part of a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming.
Highlights include:
- Accelerating tree trimming work for communities hardest hit by storms last fall
- Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
- Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone
If trees are creating a safety hazard near your home, please report it to DTE here. We prioritize safety concerns based on the severity of the hazard.
