At DTE Energy, we’re working to deliver safer, more reliable power to our customers no matter what weather Mother Nature brings our way. That’s why we’re investing $12 million to rebuild the electric infrastructure that delivers power to customers in areas of Mt. Clemens and Clinton Township. We expect this project to be completed by the end of 2025.
The work includes rebuilding 3.3 miles of existing sub-transmission and distribution lines. All overhead equipment and conductor is being upgraded. We’re also replacing existing wood poles with approximately 100 steel poles, which are taller and can better withstand extreme weather.
In addition to improving electric reliability, this work will support growth in the area and a more electrified future, including the greater adoption of electric vehicles.
This rebuilding work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future and will help DTE in its commitment to reducing power outages by 30% and cutting outage times in half by the end of 2029.
