As part of August’s Month of Caring events, DTE employees joined the Saline community to help local students and teachers start the school year with the supplies they need.
On August 6, DTE volunteers participated in the Saline Summerfest “Stuff the Bus” event, an annual effort that collects backpacks and school supplies for Saline Area Social Services (SASS). The donations support local students and teachers throughout the Saline area.
School supplies were gathered all summer, and community members came together for the final stop of the bus collection drive. DTE volunteers were on hand with representatives from local police and fire departments, Miss Saline contestants, Summerfest organizers and local businesses to load the bus with backpacks and school supplies before the first bell rings.

Representing DTE at the event were members of the Data Center Accounts team, including Nicole Smith, manager; Aniebiet McCloud, marketing program manager; and Rommy Sleiman, principal account manager. They were joined by Madison Sellers, senior strategy analyst, PMO Data Centers; Tray McGuire, senior program manager, Community Engagement; Jamal Robertson, associate regional manager; and Molly Luempert-Coy, regional manager.
“What I love about working for DTE is the strong sense of community that’s embedded in our work,” Nicole said. “Whatever we do, it’s to support our neighbors, our friends and family. It was great to see everyone come together to support kids and schools in the Saline area.”
The day was a reminder of what’s possible when neighbors, organizations and businesses join forces to support local families. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success and demonstrated DTE’s commitment to caring for the communities we serve!
