DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.

Recently in Detroit’s Hubbard Richard neighborhood, crews were replacing utility poles in an alleyway off Cromwell St., near the Ambassador Bridge. The newly installed poles in this location are now stronger and more resilient to extreme weather conditions. Some of these new overhead poles then feed to our underground service, through a conduit, to businesses in the immediate area. The new poles will help us with improved service and reliability, both overhead and underground, to customers around the Ambassador Bridge and the adjacent Hubbard Richard neighborhood. It’s all part of a larger $165 million project to greatly improve electric service to the greater Corktown area of Detroit.

As DTE Energy continues to strengthen its grid, our team is dedicated to identifying equipment that is due for an upgrade or replacement. Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
