As DTE Energy continues toward building a stronger grid, we continue our work in Livonia to finish executing some pole top upgrades.
Recently, at the intersection of Farmington Road and Glendale Street, our crews were wrapping up an important local project in Livonia. Over a dozen poles have been replaced and upgraded in this immediate area and the finishing touch was to install brand new wire stretching across the new upgraded poles.
These upgrades will provide a more stable and reliable service in the area and also accommodate the increased demand for electricity anticipated in Livonia. This new wire being installed will cap off the work on this specific project, but more work is scheduled for Livonia in the near future. Together, these new pieces of equipment will increase the performance of the grid in the area, especially during extreme weather situations.
DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.
Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
