DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to our customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half —by 2029.
In Livonia, our dedicated frontline crews and expert engineering teams have been patrolling throughout the city since early last fall. Recently, they pinpointed 20 key locations in the southern part of Livonia that needed critical infrastructure enhancements.
These upgrades are on track to be completed within the upcoming weeks. The circuits were chosen due to past reliability issues, ensuring necessary improvements are prioritized. From the installation of a fresh cross-arms atop a power pole to the complete replacement of poles, our teams are actively engaged in ensuring the city’s electric infrastructure and reliability improve.
At the intersection of W. Chicago Street and Yale Street, our frontline crews were hard at work installing these crucial upgrades. In addition to the new pole, they also installed sturdier cross-arms and reinforced insulators. These enhancements, coupled with extensive tree trimming efforts throughout Livonia, will bring better reliability to this city, particularly during the most intense storm seasons.
DTE is building the grid of the future. That plan includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees. These are at the core of our plan as we work to increase reliability for our Livonia customers and across the many communities we serve.
