DTE team members from across the company recently hosted over 40 middle school girls with aspirations to be future engineers and scientists, many from communities of color, participating in the Engineering Society of Detroit’s ESD) Girls in Engineering Academy.
The Engineering Society of Detroit Girls in Engineering Academy to improve academic achievement and increase the interest in engineering among girls. ESD’s overarching goal is to decrease the gender gap in engineering professions by helping girls excel at science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and eventually pursue engineering careers
Everyone enjoyed a fun-filled day of tours, learning and hands-on activities in support of the program’s mission to increase the number of women in STEM jobs by developing the talent here in Michigan.
