A DTE underground crew was on Abbott Street and Third Street transferring a Detroit building’s power source from the Detroit Public Lighting Department (PLD) to DTE Energy. With this transition, cable splicers (pictured above) installed a new underground cable to improve power reliability. While the crew worked, nearby homes and businesses were fed power through a different cable source, ensuring that the job was completed safely and that the community’s service was not interrupted.

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short- and long term.

Make sure to regularly check the Detroit – District 6 community page to learn more about what’s going on in your neighborhood. You can also follow DTE on Facebook and Twitter for even more updates and information.
