DTE’s tree trimming crews were at work in the White Lake and Highland communities last week improving power reliability for neighborhoods and businesses along M-59. You can see in the pictures below that not only were branches being trimmed off of the taller trees, but a bulldozer was used to move the tree line back several yards to ensure the main power lines will have no interference for years to come.

In late 2021, DTE made a $90 million investment to accelerate its tree trimming efforts across the communities it serves to prevent outages during heavy storms. You can read more about that initiative here. Highlights include:

  • Accelerating tree trimming work for the communities hardest hit by storms last fall
  • Providing additional funds to our ongoing tree trimming program, resulting in an additional 3,500 line miles of trees trimmed. We have already trimmed 20,000 miles more aggressively, which is almost one time around the world!
  • Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short- and long-term.

Make sure to regularly check the Rose Highland community page to learn more about what’s going on in your neighborhood. You can also follow DTE on Facebook and Twitter for even more updates and information.
