While our crews are focused on making improvements to enhance power reliability for Detroiters, they are also sometimes called upon to help homeowners, businesspeople, places of worship and schools on special requests. We helped on one such school project when we were called to the Escuela Avancemos Academy in Detroit, on Howard Street and 18th Street, to provide clearance for the school to continue their roofing repairs. The crew ascended in a bucket truck and relocated power lines in order to give roofers more room to work safely on the building, without fear of coming into contact with the lines. There were no service disruptions in this process. When the roof repairs are complete, DTE will come back to return the power lines to their standard positioning. We were happy to help so the school could receive its needed repairs while keeping the roofers safe.
