DTE dispatched tree trimming crews throughout Livonia last week to prepare for warmer weather and the storms it brings. One of those areas was the SMB Estates neighborhood across from St. Mary Hospital on Levan. The crews removed overgrown trees off power lines along Country Club Dr. and Yale St. This work will decrease the likelihood of an outage when bad weather comes so your power is there when you need it.

In late 2021, DTE made a $90 million investment to accelerate its tree trimming efforts across the communities it serves to prevent outages during heavy storms. You can read more about that initiative here. Highlights include:

  • Accelerating tree trimming work for the communities hardest hit by storms last fall
  • Providing additional funds to our ongoing tree trimming program, resulting in an additional 3,500 line miles of trees trimmed. We have already trimmed 20,000 miles more aggressively, which is almost one time around the world!
  • Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short- and long-term.

Make sure to regularly check the Livonia community page to learn more about what’s going on in your neighborhood. You can also follow DTE on Facebook and Twitter for even more updates and information.
