Two tree trimming crews worked on cleaning up several trees along Frederick and Alabama Street last week. Certain trees were in need of trimming due to overgrown branches that grew too close to power lines. Branches that are too close must be trimmed to reduce the chances of limbs falling onto power lines and causing outages during storms. Frequent tree trimming maintenance is important to help ensure you have the power you need, when you need it.

In late 2021, DTE made a $90 million investment to accelerate its tree trimming efforts across the communities it serves to prevent outages during heavy storms. You can read more about that initiative here. Highlights include:

  • Accelerating tree trimming work for the communities hardest hit by storms last fall
  • Providing additional funds to our ongoing tree trimming program, resulting in an additional 3,500 line miles of trees trimmed. We have already trimmed 20,000 miles more aggressively, which is almost one time around the world!
  • Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short- and long-term.

Make sure to regularly check the Livonia community page to learn more about what’s going on in your neighborhood. You can also follow DTE on Facebook and Twitter for even more updates and information.
