A DTE crew was in Detroit on Second Avenue and Charlotte Street after a rat chewed through an underground cable causing one electrical feed to rupture. DTE switched service for nearby buildings to an alternate feed while the crew solved the issue. They descended underground to cut off the damaged section and install a new cable. This work restored power back on the main feed, returning the grid to full operation to supply power needed by local homes and businesses.
You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short- and long term.
