Our crews recently worked to replace equipment on our power lines along Commerce Center Drive. We replaced items called “reclosers” which can detect a problem on a power line, such as fallen tree or branch.

If the recloser detects a problem, it will activate and attempt to test the line up to three times to determine if the issue was only temporary and it is safe to carry electricity. If the problem persists, the line is deactivated for safety, and DTE crews will come out to inspect and repair.

Equipment repairs and updates like these will help ensure that the next time your area experiences storms or other issues, you and your neighbors will continue to have the power you need.

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short- and long term.

Make sure to regularly check the Wayne County community page to learn more about what’s going on in your neighborhood. You can also follow DTE on Facebook and Twitter for even more updates and information.
