A new subdivision is be constructed in Saline, and our crews were onsite to hook up the power equipment that will meet the future homeowners’ energy needs for years to come. While ground is still being moved and roads paved at the massive construction site on Maple Rd. between Textile and WoodlandDTE crews installed a cable pole in place of an old utility pole. Since new subdivisions are built with underground wires, cable poles enable our overhead system to connect to an underground system via a small wire that goes down the side of the pole. You can see an example of a cable pole pictured below.

You can read more about the anatomy of a pole here.

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short- and long term.

Make sure to regularly check the Washtenaw County community page to learn more about what’s going on in your neighborhood. You can also follow DTE on Facebook and Twitter for even more updates and information.
