There’s a new way to enjoy the fall season downtown – with classical music by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO), food by Lumen and an Old Fashioned cocktail sampling with Elijah Craig – at Beacon Park with “Fall After Dark”
Celebrate the sights, sounds and flavors of fall nights in downtown Detroit this Saturday, Oct. 19 at our NEW “Fall After Dark” pop-up event. Join us, along with Lumen Detroit, for our annual Cider in the City festivities during the day, and stay into the evening to celebrate Elijah Craig Old Fashioned Week.
This new, outdoor event is all about cocktails, community, music and seasonal fun in the city. We’ll also host a special live- stream on the big screen of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s seafaring adventure performance of “Sea Scenes” at 8 p.m.
A highlight of the evening is the Old Fashioned Competition, taking place at 7 p.m. when local cocktail enthusiasts will be randomly selected from the crowd to showcase their unique take on the classic Old Fashioned cocktail. Using Elijah Craig bourbon as the base, contestants will create their version of this iconic drink, with a panel of judges deciding who reigns supreme. The winner will receive exclusive prizes and coveted Elijah Craig swag.
In addition to the Old Fashioned showdown, the event will feature a variety of seasonal beverages.
Savor Blake’s Orchard Apple Cider Slushies – a refreshing fall favorite; or enjoy craft beers and hard ciders from Griffin Claw Brewing Company.
Lumen Detroit will offer a variety of fall-themed bites, including their popular smashburgers, and other delicious options. These savory treats are perfect for pairing with a cocktail or cold beer, adding to the festive fall atmosphere.
For non-drinkers or designated drivers, there will be a variety of creative mocktails, ensuring everyone can join in the fun. Crafted with the same attention to flavor as their alcoholic counterparts, these drinks offer a delicious alternative for guests looking for alcohol-free options.
Music from DJ Thornstryker will set the tone for the evening, with a lively soundtrack that will keep the energy high throughout the event. Whether you’re mingling with friends, dancing, or simply enjoying the fall vibes, the music will add to the electric atmosphere of Beacon Park.
