Detroit Tribute in Light

DTE’s Beacon Park, in partnership with the Downtown Detroit Partnership, Mindfield, TLS Productions, Inc. and the curatorial committee of Njia Kai from NKSK Events + Production, the Detroit Branch NAACP, and Jamon Jordan from the Detroit Black Scroll Network showcased “Detroit Tribute In Light” in August. This community-centric video and light event honors the courage Detroiters have shown and acknowledges the losses we have suffered in facing the two pandemics of COVID-19 and racial injustice. The face of the Grand Army of the Republic Building directly across the street from Beacon Park, will be covered completely with a moving video light show. The video is comprised of locally gathered images and video as well as massive scale custom-designed graphics and animations.
