Environment

Beacon Park actively engages in environmental responsibility through its intentional design and onsite assets, providing the community and visitors with a sustainable public green space. Here’s a look at Beacon Park’s 2025 sustainability accomplishments:
- 1.41 tons of waste recycled by park visitors and Lumen Detroit guests
- 41 trees onsite, capturing approximately 1,500 pounds of CO₂ annually
- 4 bioswales that help filter pollutants and reduce stormwater runoff
- 4 recycling stations located throughout the venue
- Biodiverse habitat with native species that supports pollinators and serves as a bee sanctuary
- 4 electric vehicle charging stations nearby, supporting cleaner transportation options
Lumen Detroit – Beacon Park’s flagship restaurant

Lumen Detroit was established and built as a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Silver–Certified building, reinforcing Beacon Park’s commitment to sustainable development. Lumen features:
- 3,400 square feet of green roof, reducing surface runoff by 24% and holding up to 3 inches of rainwater
- A menu that includes sustainably sourced beer, spirits and select food items, supporting responsible sourcing practices
Accessibility & Connectivity
Beacon Park serves as a central downtown destination, helping visitors connect to nearby attractions while reducing the local carbon footprint:
- Located near 2 bus lines connecting visitors to destinations such as Michigan Central, Detroit Riverfront, Ford Field and Hudson’s Detroit
- A 10‑minute walk to the QLINE, bike stations and the Rosa Parks Transit Center
- 20+ bike lanes and bike racks located onsite and nearby
