In its 132 years as an organization, the Detroit Athletic Club (DAC) has honored amateur athletics since the founding in 1887. Besides celebrating amateur athletics, the DAC has embraced the community and provided a helping hand to many in the city of Detroit. The Detroit Cycling Championship has a philanthropic aspect in the DAC Foundation, referencing Kids IN Detroit, Bike Giveaway to donate new bikes to children in the city of Detroit.
DAC Foundation and Kids IN Detroit, in conjunction with the Detroit Cycling Championship, are donating 132 new bikes to kids in the FitKids360 Program. The program takes kids through a seven-week healthy lifestyle program for children ages 5 to 17 and their parents or support partners. The program combines basic education about nutrition, behavior, and exercise with a wide range of physical activities. DCC will partner with the program to provide bikes to keep the kids active as they continue their journey into a healthy lifestyle. In addition to receiving the bikes they will learn about basic safety checks and will have 3 years of free mechanical safety checks through D&D Bicycles. Join us in helping make a difference in the community.
Additional funds raised help to support the DAC Foundation. To learn more about the programs and projects of the DAC Foundation, contact robb@thedac.com.
