What makes you unique?

At DTE, Diversity Month in April is the perfect time to celebrate our employee’s unique differences. Our new Welcome video does just that – celebrates the diverse backgrounds, perspectives and opinions that each of our employees brings to our work every day, which makes us a better company.

But that’s not all we’re doing to create a welcoming environment…

We’re launching a new team of leaders to drive our work to help build a more diverse and inclusive workplace, which is one of our company’s top priorities.  Why? Because we know that when people feel included and part of the team, their energy flows and they contribute their best.

Trevor Lauer, president and COO, DTE Electric, is leading this new team – the Inclusion and Diversity Oversight Committee (iDOC) – of 25 leaders from across the enterprise.  iDOC member Phillip Smith, director, IT, expressed his excitement that Lauer chose to lead the initiative, in partnership with Diane Antishin, vice president, Human Resources Operations and chief diversity and inclusion officer, and Amal Berry, manager, Diversity and Inclusion.

“Having a president lead this team speaks volumes about the importance DTE is placing on creating a culture of inclusion,” said Smith.  “Through my personal experiences, I learned early on about the importance of accepting others and being accepted by others.  As a member, I’m excited to learn and have honest conversations about what we need to do to increase diversity and expand our culture of inclusion here.”
