After weathering the storm of a long recession, Michigan residents are rebounding in so many ways. The revitalization of downtown Detroit and surrounding areas — with new businesses and housing— is evidence of a comeback and an important part of our region’s economic development.

While DTE Energy is the energy source behind these projects, our role in facilitating economic growth goes far beyond simply providing power for new businesses and developments.

Benny Sasser and his family learned first-hand just how valuable of a partner DTE is when it comes to helping business customers plan for their energy needs.

In 2012 when the family began redeveloping a blighted one-block area on Woodward Avenue in Midtown Detroit, DTE Energy supported them with advice and counsel on everything from where to place transformers, to incorporating power sources into the design. Now, the block is home to the Garden Theatre, the Block restaurant, Great Lakes Coffee and the Woodward Garden apartments.

From groundbreaking to grand opening, DTE is there every step of the way to provide businesses with the energy they need to shine.
