New Year’s Eve is a time to celebrate the successes of the previous year and look ahead with hope and anticipation to the future. In a few weeks, friends and families will gather from all over, waiting for the ball to drop, excited to begin a fresh New Year, full of possibilities. Kick off your family New Year’s celebration at the NYE Kids Countdown in Beacon Park. From 1 p.m.-6 p.m., there will be loads of activities and crafts for kids of all ages so that your family can still enjoy New Year’s Eve celebration that evening and have the little ones tucked in by their regular bedtime. Sponsored by the DTE Energy Beacon Park foundation, the event is free and open to the public.
For those who love to hit the ski slopes, Mt. Brighton is hosting a celebration of its own. The event runs from 7 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. and features a DJ, dancing, a photo booth, balloon artists, face paintings as well as a fireworks show at 10 p.m. While the event is free to the public, a purchased lift ticket will still be required if you’d like to ski or snowboard.
Looking to leave the kids at home and have a night out on the town? By celebrating New Year’s Eve at Detroit’s iconic David Whitney Building, you’ll be sure to get the most out of the holiday. To attend the party, you must be 21 or older. VIP Event Tickets cost $125. The party will feature an open bar, food from Epicurean Catering & Events, music by DJ Vince Patricola and more! Doors open at 9 p.m.
If you live in West Michigan and want to celebrate the New Year in a unique way, this event is for you. Located at the JW Marriott Grand Rapids and Amway Grand Plaza in Grand Rapids, tickets cost $129 and include entry to four different parties between the two hotels connected by a skywalk. Along with your ticket, you’ll receive five drink tokens as well as free pizza and hot dogs. In case you didn’t think the party could get any more fun, each ballroom has a different theme with the purpose of taking you “around the world.” You must be at least 21 years old to attend.
