Looking for some fall fun? From festivals and parades to cider mills and apple orchards, use this list as a guide to get involved in your community and neighboring communities.
Southeast Michigan
September 26 – 29: The Fire and Flannel Fest is set to return to Wyandotte featuring axe throwing, carnival games, lumberjack shows, fire blowing, live music and live chainsaw carvings.
All fall long: Visit Yates Cider Mill in Rochester Hills to enjoy cider, donuts, Michigan apples, fudge and various baked goods. In addition to goods, the cider mill offers three hiking trails, pet-friendly spaces and a picnic area. The cider mill is open seven days a week.
November 28: The 97th annual America’s Thanksgiving Parade will cruise down Woodward Thanksgiving morning. You can watch the parade for free anywhere in the three-mile stretch between Kirby and Congress.
Mid and Northwest Michigan
September 13 – 28: ArtPrize will be back in Grand Rapids, from September 13 to 28. Throughout the two weeks, over 1,600 artists from 42 U.S. states and 53 countries will display their work. Don’t miss the special events during ArtPrize such as an African American Art & Music Festival, a Margarita Fest and a Celebration of Mexican Heritage.
September 14 – October 13: Tricks and Treats is set to return to Michigan’s Adventure every Saturday and Sunday with candy, costume contests and Halloween activities at the state’s largest amusement park.
October 14: Pay a visit to Pentwater for the 27th annual Oktoberfest to enjoy fall festivities and the Lake Michigan shoreline. The events offered at the fall bash include a Classic Car and Hot Rod Show, a 5k, live music, seasonal drinks, yard games and local vendors.
Northern Michigan
September 21 – 22: Visit Harvest Festival Spooktacular at Wells State Park in Cedar River to kick off early Halloween celebrations with a costume parade, crafts and trick-or-treating.
All fall long: Take a trip to Knaebe’s Apple Farm and Ciderworks in Rogers City to pick a pumpkin, take a tractor ride, walk the orchard and enjoy wood fire pizza, cider and fresh baked goods.
October 11 – 13: The Apple Festival returns to downtown Charlevoix. Throughout the three days, check out the arts and crafts show, local food vendors and a farmers’ market that will offer fall favorites.
