DESCRIPTION:“Bounce” is Beacon Park’s newest temporary art installation by the New York City-based\, award-winning design studio Hou de Sousa. It will be on view from June 4 – September 13. It is free and open to the public during open park hours\, daily from 6 am to 10 pm.  \n“Bounce” is a celebration of collective perseverance that links together thousands of individual parts and components into a unified gesture of positive change. Colorful parachute cord and piano wire combine to create unique triangle shapes that during daylight hours cast shimmering shadows. SUMMARY:Design Our Future: Competition Awards Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:DESIGN OUR FUTURE is a design competition launched in January that challenges Detroit high school students to imagine what an inclusive Detroit looks like in 2050. Students are asked to design a type of transportation\, a living space\, or a wearable item for persons living with disabilities in 2050.\n \nFive finalists were chosen in June to continue in the journey to win the grand prize of $3\,000. Each finalist has been paired with a design professional for an eight-week long summer mentorship. Through weekly Zoom sessions\, our mentors are helping finalists refine and complete their designs for a more inclusive future.\n \nJoin us at the awards ceremony on September 26th to recognize our hardworking and talented finalists and their mentors. Presenting live\, finalist will pitch their designs to our distinguished panel of judges\, go through the judging process and compete to win the top prizes of $3000\, $2000 and $1000! The night will also feature horse-drawn carriage rides\, food trucks and bars\, Visits with Santa and the Channel 955 Official Rink Opening Party!  \nWe’ve got you covered to ensure fabulous views of the show from anywhere\, with several viewing screens throughout Campus Martius Park.  \nFREE shuttles will run between Campus Martius Park to Beacon Park from 4:30 p.m. to midnight with pick-up/drop-off locations at Michigan and Griswold and First and Plaza.  \nAt Beacon Park\, guests can watch a live stream of Detroit’s Tree Lighting and enjoy live performances inside the heated Winter Lodge tent. \nSanta will also make an appearance at Beacon Park\, alongside the incredible\, larger-than-life holiday lighting installments and the Detroit Children’s Tree\, which all transforms the park into a winter wonderland! \nAn assortment of food and beverage will be available including food trucks\, restaurants\, bars\, hot chocolate\, and more. \nBe sure to arrive early to experience all the beautiful winter lighting in Downtown Detroit!  \nIt’s the most wonderful time of the year and we can’t wait to celebrate with you in the parks!
