DTE’s Care Force volunteers hit the streets in August across Michigan and beyond for our company’s annual Month of Caring. Not only did we increase our volunteer hours, but we had significant employee engagement. How did we do? DTE employees volunteered 10,000 hours and served 273 nonprofits! The top industries that DTE’s 1,600 volunteers served included health and human services (45%), youth (13%) and food security (11%).
Just in time to celebrate our Month of Caring results, DTE was also honored by Gov. Whitmer as the Corporate Community Leader through her Governor’s Service Awards.
The Governor’s Service Awards ceremony was held on Thursday, Sept. 5 and is an annual statewide recognition event acknowledging the contributions made by Michigan volunteers. The event is coordinated by the Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC), the state’s lead agency on volunteerism.
DTE was honored thanks to our company-wide commitment to volunteerism, which connects employees to hundreds of organizations to further their missions and serve our communities. Our skills-based volunteerism was also highlighted as it allows employees to share their invaluable life experiences.
With our Care Force team and employee’s eagerness to make a difference, we continue to be a force for good in communities.
