In early 2017, DTE Energy was one of the first utilities in the country to commit to an 80% carbon reduction goal. Since that announcement, we have accelerated our vision to include achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. The company plans to substantially increase its renewable energy generation portfolio to help achieve this goal.
The future of clean mobility is electric, and DTE is facilitating electric vehicle (EV) adoption through the three components of Charging Forward, a program seeking to increase environmental and energy grid benefits through the electrification of transportation.
Since its inception in 2009, more than 3.8 million electric customers and 2.7 million gas customers have directly participated in DTE’s energy efficiency programs. In 2020, DTE was named the eighth ranked energy company in the US for its energy efficiency programs by the 2020 Utility Energy Efficiency Scorecard released by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE).
Idling – running a vehicle’s engine while it is stationary – wastes an estimated 6 billion gallons of fuel each year in our country.
At DTE Energy, we are dedicated to building a cleaner energy future for all our customers. Part of that commitment includes protecting the environment in which we work and live, and restoring land that once housed energy generation, natural gas operations, historic manufactured gas plants (MGPs), or other industrial uses.
