The Detroit Symphony Orchestra, a leader in the world of classical music, embraces and inspires individuals, families and communities through unsurpassed musical experiences.

Through a multi-year commitment, the DTE Energy Foundation supported Detroit Symphony Orchestra performances in communities throughout metro Detroit, established endowment, and sponsored the Classical Roots Celebration and Heroes Gala.

Through the Classical Roots Celebration, $300,000 was raised from more than 400 patrons and sponsors. This led to 2,600 viewers joining the event digitally via Live from Orchestra Hall webcast, 1,600 patrons joining us in Orchestra Hall, and 150 students served through classroom visits. The Heroes Gala raised more than $900,000 and attracted nearly 300 guests and 1,000 concert attendees.

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra performed four free community concerts at venues across Metro Detroit in collaboration with the DTE Energy Foundation. All four concerts were conducted by Associate Conductor Michelle Merrill, and ticket reservations exceeded 8,000.

Concerts took place at:

  • Ford Community & Performing Arts Center in Dearborn
