In Michigan, we’re able to enjoy a variety of parks year-round, for both community members and their dogs. For International Dog Day on Aug. 26, we’re sharing local dog parks for your furry family members to enjoy:


Metro Detroit

  • Detroit
    • Grand Circus – 298 E. Adams Ave.: A small but mighty park in the heart of the city for Fido to frolic at.
    • Detroit Dog Park – 2699 Rose St.: This park is located near the historic train station and offers space for your best friend to enjoy.
    • Cadillac Square Dog Park – 111 Cadillac Square: This park has a fantastic green area near amazing restaurants downtown.
  • Ferndale
    • Ferndale Dog Park – 1280 Hilton Rd. & University St.: Although this park is only open to Ferndale residents, this space within Wilson Park has fenced play areas for large and small dogs.
  • Madison Heights
    • Red Oaks Dog Park – 31353 Dequindre Rd.: Enjoy the beautiful space and summer training sessions all in one park!
  • Orion
    • Orion Oaks Bark Park – 2500 Joslyn Rd.: This 24-acre dog park has three separate play areas, including a dog swimming dock for a daily pass of $5.
  • Ann Arbor
    • Swift Run Dog Park – Platt Rd.: This park has 10 acres of fenced-in play area for dogs to run to their heart’s content.

West Michigan

  • Jenison
    • Hillcrest Dog Park – 1309 Lyon St. NE: Here, there’s a clean dog park with dirt and woodchip surfaces for your dog to explore.
  • Rockford
    • Rockford Dog Park – 200 Longview Dr.: This park offers toys and water bowls for dogs after a long day of play.
  • Jenison
    • Grand Ravines – 3991 Fillmore St.: This dog park has it all – from wooded and swamp areas to a doggie water fountain, a coin-operated dog wash and more.
  • Holland
    • Quincy Dog Park – 4260 144th Ave.: The park offers a large and grassy dog play space against a scenic backdrop, making it a perfect spot for you to capture the day’s activities with your best friend.

Northern Michigan

  • East Tawas
    • Tawas Point State Park Dog Rule – 686 Tawas Beach Rd.: This park offers a dog-friendly beach on Lake Huron for $11/day. Enjoy a swim and the sand with your furry family member.
  • Manistee
    • Nordhouse Dunes – W. Forest Trail Rd.: These dunes are a large wildness field within Manistee National State Forest with tons of dunes, which are extended up to 140 feet high, and a dog-friendly beach.
  • Petoskey
    • Bayfront Park – 101 E Lake St.: Dogs can enjoy the waterfront here for only $5 a day.


  • Gwin
    • Paws Park Dog Park – 815 South, M-553: This park is completely fenced-in, offering two, separate play areas – one for dogs below 25 pounds and one for large dogs above 25 pounds.
  • Chassell
    • Chassell Bark Park – 103 3rd St.: This off-leash dog park is within Centennial Park and offers lots of great sightseeing for you and your dog to explore.
  • Baraga
    • Baraga State Park – 1300 US-41 South: Although not explicitly a dog park, this shoreline along Lake Superior’s Keweenaw Bay is an ideal spot for dogs who love to swim!
