DTE is in the initial phase of building two new Detroit substations. You may have noticed crews in Airport Sub neighborhood preparing to build what will be called the Promenade Substation, as well as in Islandview Neighborhood preparing to build what will be called the Islandview Substation. Construction crews are in the reclamation stage at Promenade which means they are stripping the site of unwanted soil and grass while crews at Islandview are putting up fencing to secure the job site. The two new developments will improve reliability by reducing power disruptions, as well as provide additional electric capacity to support the evolution of energy use over time.
