Public Vote for Final 20 ends October 6 at Midnight

The two-time Emmy Award Nominated ArtPrize Award Ceremony is an exciting event during which the Public Vote and Juried Awards are announced. The Ceremony, sponsored by the DTE Energy Foundation, the philanthropic arm of DTE Energy, is a celebration of the many artists, venues, visitors and community members that make the 19-day event possible. The Eighth Annual event, taking place on Oct. 7, will be hosted by Todd Herring, ArtPrize Director of Creative and Communications, and broadcast live on NBC affiliate WOOD-TV 8, starting at 7:45 p.m. ET.

ArtPrize-goers can join the family-friendly Community Watch Party in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids at Rosa Parks Circle to view a livestream of the ceremony. The evening will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with a live concert, programmed by WOOD TV 8. After the winners are announced, Michigan’s own The Accidentals will take the stage to kick off the ArtPrize Awards After Party. The city’s most popular food trucks will be on site serving up a variety of cuisine. Founders Brewing Co. will feature several brews, including the Official Beer of ArtPrize Eight, Pale Joe.

Public Vote continues through Oct. 6 at midnight
ArtPrize Eight announced the Final 20 on Sunday, Oct. 2, kicking-off Round 2 of the Public Vote Awards. From now through Oct. 6 at 11:59 p.m. EST, the public can vote for their favorite of the Final 20 entries via the mobile app or at a Neighborhood HUB. At the end of Round 2 voting, the artist entry with the most votes in each category – 2-D, 3-D, Time-Based and Installation – will win their $12,500 category award. The artist who receives the most votes overall will be awarded the $200,000 Public Vote Grand Prize. A list of the Final 20 can be found at artprize.org.

The Juried Awards
A panel of art professionals, experts in their field, will award a $200,000 grand prize award and five $12,500 category awards. Category Jurors assessed the entries within their respective categories during the first weekend of the 2016 competition, September 24-25, and selected a shortlist of five entries. The 20 finalists then move on to the Grand Prize jurors’ selection.

ArtPrize Passport Program
The ArtPrize Awards also marks the culmination of the inaugural ArtPrize Passport competition. ArtPrize-goers are encouraged to pick up a copy of the ArtPrize Map and then visit as many of the ArtPrize Neighborhood HUBs as possible — collecting Passport stamps along the way. Visitors who collect stamps from any five of the eight HUBs, or visitor service centers, will be entered to win prizes from ArtPrize and Founders Brewing Co. Additionally, those who collect stamps from all eight Neighborhood HUBs, as well as the exclusive ArtPrize Medallion sticker — available only at the Founders Brewing Co. tent at the ArtPrize Awards Community Watch Party at Rosa Parks Circle — will be entered to win a grand prize package from ArtPrize and Founders Brewing Co.
It’s not too late to plan your trip and place your vote!
