DTE Energy, Michigan’s largest energy company, is promoting energy efficiency by sponsoring Michigan Battle of the Buildings, a friendly competition that supports energy waste reduction practices in buildings across the state.
“This sponsorship is an important part of our work to support a thriving statewide economy by helping business customers lower their energy costs,” said John Boladian, director of Energy Waste Reduction, DTE Energy.
The competition is organized by the U.S Green Building Council of West Michigan.
The battle is open to all Michigan area commercial, industrial and multi-family buildings. It is also open to non-profit and educational institutions. The competition is FREE for businesses to participate, and building owners and operators have until March 31,2018 to register at michiganbattleofthebuildings.org.
The building that reduces the most energy will be honored as the Michigan Battle of the Buildings “biggest loser” at the 2019 Michigan Energy Summit.
In 2016, competition participants collectively saved $2.4 million.
